"Mario" seemed the obvious choice for the theme of Garren's 6th birthday party. There were so many cute ideas on the internet that it was hard to narrow it down. We had a great time surrounded by family, even Great Grandpa and Great Grandma were able to make it. Happy Birthday to the little boy who never ceases to amaze me or make me laugh.
Garren was old enough this year to take swimming lessons from the pool across the street. He made great strides and has become much more comfortable in the water. Calvin also enjoyed the lessons because he got to go play in the kiddie pool.
We decided to begin an annual "End-of-the-School-Year Campout." The weather was perfect (just a bit cool and low humidity) and the boys had a great time. We went on a nature hike, cooked hot dogs and smores, played Candyland, and, of course, slept in a tent. We can't wait till next year!
Ignore the smeared paint on my hands (that will be another post when I'm finished) and get a load of what fell in Keyser this evening! It rained and hailed so hard and the water rose very quickly! The parking lot across the street looked like a lake and the road looked like a river. Thankfully, it didn't last too long and the water receded quickly.
I've posted before about some of Garren's wacky culinary creations. Calvin has now decided to follow in Garren's footsteps. While Garren was making his usual (peanut butter, honey, mustard, bologna, and pepperoni), Calvin made his own sandwich (peanut butter, pepperoni, and chicken lunch meat). Yes, they both ate their entire sandwiches.
This was Garren's last day of pre-K. The school year went by so fast and he loved every minute of it. Garren can't wait to be kindergartner next year! (It was mix and match day.)
I've decided to create another blog to keep a record (and to brag)of my extreme deals. I seem to have a knack at finding the cheap stuff (perhaps inherited it from my Dad). Now that I've entered the couponing scene and get the deals more often, a new blog seemed appropriate. It is called myextremedeals.blogspot.com. A link is on the right-hand side. Happy saving, everyone!
