Caught

Notice the guilty look on his face! My wonderful husband installed child locks on the necessary cabinets but I must not have closed the cereal cabinet all the way and Calvin took advantage. This was how I found him. He had taken off the cushion (a usual pastime) and was enjoying his Frosted Flakes Gold in his favorite chair. Here is what he did when I told him to give me a smile.

A New Chore Chart

I recently did just about the best thing I've ever done for myself as a homemaker--I made my own chore chart. I never wake up in the mornings and think about all the stuff that needs done. I know exactly what I need to do that day. My laundry never gets backed up. My bathrooms don't get gross. My fridge never looks like my mother's (sorry mom). It is absolutely the best feeling to never get behind in the cleaning. I've been going strong for 3 weeks of this now and I never want to stop. I left off Saturday to do any other chores like bed sheets or windows...etc...or (gasp) to do nothing extra at all! I felt it unnecessary to put things like cleaning the kitchen, or making beds, or general straightening up since those things must be done everyday. Please excuse me now, I need to go clean out my fridge.

Fishing Tragedy

Chris went fishing yesterday and he caught 5 Trout and 1 Large Mouth. This is the picture of the Large Mouth that he caught. For the life of him he couldn't pull out that barbed hook. Eventually, we talked him into going to the hospital to get it out. After numbing it even the doctor wasn't able to pull it out. The doctor then tried to make the hole larger with a needle, that still didn't work. Finally, he had to push the hook all the way back through (with quite a bit of wrenching) and cut off the barb. After that it just came right out. Poor Chris! He even had to get a tetanus shot.

Morels

Pretty disgusting looking, huh?! I was leery about even tasting them but then I thought, "What isn't good dipped in egg and bread crumbs and fried in butter? Besides, I've eaten worse!". I see why they are a delicacy in French cuisine. I'm not a mushroom girl but these were right up there with the best foods I've ever tasted! They are very tender with a mild flavor. And the boys absolutely devoured them!

FHE Fun

On Monday we decided to go bowling for FHE. Our local alley has $1 games and shoes on Monday so it works out perfectly. We haven't been bowling since Calvin grew out of his infant carrier and we were really worried about how he'd behave. It turned out fantastic. Calvin loved everything and actually turned out to be a great bowler. He helped me achieve a 150 (my highest score ever)! He took Chris's and my first bowl of each frame which helped to keep him occupied. Garren also did great. He scored a 130 (his highest score ever). I wish I would've brought my camera.

New Arrivals

Two mother ducks recently hatched their eggs close to our house. One has 11 and the other has 7. Since the water in the New Creek has been so high they've brought them up the drainage culvert right next to our house. When we get a chance we walk across the street to feed them. I have to say they are adorable!

Mr. Climber

Calvin has enjoyed his new skill of climbing up onto chairs. He also trys to be like his big brother and play the computer. So far all he can do is pound on the keyboard.

Mr. Blue Eyes

Garren definitely has one dominating feature, his big, blue eyes. People comment on them all the time and I agree that they are beautiful.

Best Buds

I love to see Garren and Calvin having fun together.
