Good-bye "Deal" Blog
I'm announcing the final post of my "deal" blog, myextremedeals.blogspot.com. Farewell!
Fractured Clavicle
The Thursday after Halloween I picked up Calvin to put him in his chair to eat dinner and he started crying. He said that his shoulder hurt. I thought that he just didn't want to eat his food as he has used this excuse at other times when I knew he wasn't hurt. Throughout the weekend he was inconsistent in complaining about the pain. Sometimes I picked him up and he was fine. And when I told him on Monday morning that I was taking him to the doctor he let me pick him up (several times) and insisted that he was "all better." We decided that he should be seen just in case. The doctor really didn't have any worries but sent him to get an x-ray anyway. I was shocked when the radiologist showed me the fractured clavicle. Calvin then had to be fitted with a figure 8 brace. He must wear the brace day and night for at least the next two weeks. He will have a follow up appointment at that time and they will determine whether he has to continue wearing it. He's getting used to the brace and is in great spirits. The only problem we have is trying to keep him from playing too hard.

Happy Birthday, C-Boy!!
Leaf Scavenger Hunt
Chris wanted to start teaching the boys to identify the trees of Appalachia so he made a worksheet and we set off on a leaf scavenger hunt. Our hunt took us to a lookout in Keyser called Queen’s Point. Some highlights from the adventure included finding a snake skin, seeing the seashell fossils at the top of the rock, and finding Grandma Keckley’s house from our bird’s eye view. We found all the leaves except one, the Quaking Aspen. It was a great way to spend a sunny, Sunday afternoon.
Calvin's Playgroup
Calvin is part of a playgroup that meets twice per month. This past week we went to a local fire station and got to look around and get in the trucks. Calvin's favorite part was the Dalmatian puppet talking to him from inside the firetruck. Afterwards, we ate a fabulous lunch provided by one of the moms, Melissa.
